Patient Eligibility Verification

Prior to rendering service, Western Drug Medical Supply will confirm coverage, co-payments, and deductibles through eligibility and benefits verification. By verifying eligibility, we can determine a patient’s medical insurance coverage status prior to the delivery of service or equipment. Additionally, we are able to obtain accurate demographic information which is vital during the claims process. Other benefits include:

  • Verify whether a patient's plan is inactive

  • Check for primary and secondary insurance

  • Confirm that the services are covered under the patient’s insurance policy and whether a referral or prior authorization is needed

  • Ensuring that referrals and authorizations are approved, entered in the system, and linked to the correct service type

Coordination of Benefits

Sometimes two insurance plans work together to pay claims for the same person. That process is called coordination of benefits. Insurance companies coordinate benefits to:

  • Avoid duplicate payments by making sure the two plans don’t pay more than the total amount of the claim

  • Establish which plan is primary and which plan is secondary—the plan that pays first and the plan that pays any remaining balance after your share of the costs is deducted

  • Help reduce the cost of insurance premiums

Compliance Monitoring of Prescribed Care

Western Drug Medical Supply provides CPAP & BiPAP equipment with built-in SD card slots that store electronic data. Each CPAP/BiPAP machine stores information related to your use of your CPAP/BiPAP device, including:

  • Total hours of active CPAP therapy

  • Total hours of blower usage

  • Mask leak-rate

  • Number of days above four hours of usage

  • Your apnea/hypopnea index (AHI)

SD card monitoring makes it easy for you to report your exact CPAP usage to your sleep clinic or physician. Clinic technicians can download the data off of your SD card and see exactly how well you're complying with your recommended therapy.
